MM Deep and Lush Brown Velvet Split-Bottom Clutch with Coin Purse. The Ultimate 1950s Classic Vintage Handbag.This is a gorgeous MM Label deep brown velvet clutch from the Morris Moskowitz Corp.  This was and is a high-end designer handbag.This is a collectible that should only go up in value as this style is hard to find.  Plus this one is in excellent condition.  My initial bid is low compared to the prices I have seen for this handbag from other vintage (including non-eBay) sellers.  There has been a lot of writings about this bag as well back in the 1950s and 1960s.The pictures did not come out very well, and I am using a new and good camera.  It is such a gorgeous purse in person.  The velvet was hard to photograph.  It looks fuzzy in pictures, looks dull or spotted/bald spots that aren't really there (see the pictures of the clasp).  It is a beautiful lush dark brown velvet in person.  It has very clean angular lines that do not come out as well in the photographs.  Nor can you see the scalloped detail very well. History of this delicious handbag:• The Morris Moskowitz Corp. was formed in 1948. • It created high-end handbags that were the rave in the 1950s. • Based on research, it appears this clutch is from their mid-1950s collections. • At that time, the company manufactured the split bottom classic clutches with a jewel knob in satins, velvets and brocades, with matching coin purse. • This clutch has such features (see Pictures): • Split bottom • Jewel knob clasp • Made in beautiful velvet with scalloped details across the top front and back. • Interior pockets, with one for coin purse. • Coin purse is attached with small chain to the inside of the bag. MM handbags change in style after the 1950s.
