Since ancient times one of the most important articles of Uzbek Women's Traditional National clothes is Kaltacha. Kaltacha is a Traditional cloak-dress for women with false sleeves. It had a very special value in Life, Traditions and Culture of Uzbek people. Uzbek Traditional Kaltacha looks very nice and celebratory. There is a variety of fabrics, patterns and designes of Uzbek National Kaltacha. However each one article is a unique sample of Uzbek Traditional Clothes. This one item will be a fascinating find for people interested in history and culture of Central Asia. It is an Old Kaltacha - traditional cape-dress for women from Surhandarya, Uzbekistan. It dates from the first part of the 20th century. The kaltacha is made of silk-cotton fabric of off-white color. The front side of the item is decorated with handmade embroidery. The edges of the item are decorated with ornamental band. For a long time it was used as the daily clothes. The backing of kaltacha is lined with silk and cotton fabric. The color of a dress was very important. It indicated woman's age. Old women used to wear grey, white and dark coloured dresses, young women wore red, green, violet, brown colored dresses. Measures: from top to bottom- 62 inches. Condition: good, has several stains.
