Originally, the four basic colors which are found on Jagannath—black, white, red and yellow—were extensively used in Oriya saris. Even motifs such as the temple border, lotus, conch and wheel, signify the affinity with the reigning deity. The traditional Orissa saris have undergone vast changes as weavers try to adapt the designs to popular taste.The cotton cloth is super fine and densely woven, with a slight flannelly touch. It's density and border weight give it a heavier drape that's a delight to wear. The quality ikats we procured in Orissa are exceptionally well executed examples of the craft. All our products are personally selected by our buyer in India, so you can be sure that we have an extensive quality check. We look for all slight color variations, spots, stains, holes, items that are broken, etc. If you should find any imperfections that relate to the quality of your item, please notify us immediately so we can replace it for you.
