What is a "kilt wrap?" It is a professionally sewn kilt but without the leather belts or buckles. Everything else is the same. It is heavy weight, 16oz. tartan material from Scottish mills, pleated to the sett and 9 yards in material. How is it worn? The kilt is wrapped around the person as normal and then secured with a couple of safety pins. The 3 rear belt loops allow a belt to be worn to hold the kilt firmly in place. This works very well for individuals/bands that need a kilt that can fit a wide variety of waist sizes. Our band used these type of kilt wraps, in parades, for two years without any problems. The photo shows two of our band members...one wearing a kilt wrap (green Irish tartan) and the other wearing a standard kilt (red Black Stewart.) The only difference is the lack of  sewn on bellts/buckles. The "tabs," shown in the pictures, are tucked in when the garment is "wrapped." They don't really do anything since the safety pins and your belt hold the kilt wrap firmly in place. The kilt wrap is in very good condition with no rips, stains or tears. The worsted wool color is "bright."  Since this kilt does not have fixed buckles, it can fit a wide variety of waist sizes. Don't be fooled by "on-line" deals. This is a military weight garment worn by actual performing bagpipers. If you don't like the idea of a wrap, you can always have your tailor (any tailor) add the belts and buckles for a small amout of money. This is a very good price and well below the cost of a brand new 16oz kilt! Remember, the waist on a kilt is measured just above the "belly button."
