Childrens Beaded Glass Slippers / Shoes for Dolls 1890 Start Price USD 85.00 Current Price USD 85.00 Time Left - Bid Count 0 Buy It Now Price - Reserve Price - Start Time Tuesday, November 04, 2008 End Time Thursday, December 04, 2008 Location Boston, MA See more about 'Childrens Beaded Glass Slippers / Shoes for Dolls 1890' Description Children's Beaded Glass Slippers / Shoes for Dolls 1890 This is an interesting pair of antique children's shoes.  I do not really know the age or origin.  They could be Asian, Middle East or European.  I do believe they are from the late 1800s, 1870s or later.  Most of the glass beads are green with red beads at the intersections, but in the front is decorated with blue, red, white and clear beads.  The sole is made of a cardboard covered with silk, then cotton batting and another layer of silk on the top.  The bottom of the sole has the upper silk folded over and stitched down (see picture) and then 2 layers of silk covered that.  The outer layers of silk are gone on one of the shoes and you can see the stitching that holds the upper silks together.  The second shoe does have both silks, but the last layer is just hanging on by a thread.  There is also wear on the upper silk and it has broken through to the batting.  Other than that the condition on the beadwork is fine. The shoes are 4 1/4" long.  The widest part of the foot is 1 1/2".            Buyer to include $4.00 shipping to US destinations; shipping can be combined for multiple purchases.
