Question & Answers When ordering a Lace Unit, there are a few key terms you will need to understand in order to complete the order form for each product. These terms are referred to as specifications (or specs) when completing your order form. Below, I have listed each of specs and their definitions in layman's terms to assist you in placing your order! Now before we get started, here are some basic frequently asked questions & answers that I'd like to get out of the way so you don't have to worry about asking: Is the hair Indian Remy Hair? Yes. Unless you state otherwise, all hair used to complete your order will be 100% Indian Remy Hair. Other choices are Chinese Remy or European Remy (which is more expensive but available). There are many other types of Remy Hair available, but these are the most commonly used. Indian Hair being the most popular. Are the knots bleached? Yes. Knot bleaching is a very necessary portion of the ventilation process which is the proper term for the process of hand making the lace units. Ventilation is where the hairs are single handedly tied to the lace strand by strand and knotted at the base. Once the hairs are completely knotted, the knots are then bleached to blend with the lace and aid in the illusion of the hairs growth. This is such an important factor in the outcome of your unit that it is not even asked on your order form because it is already done and at no additional charge! Are there baby hairs? Yes. Baby hairs have become such a necessity in the lace wig industry that it is not even a question any longer. Each unit will come with natural baby hairs unless you request otherwise. What type of lace is used? Usually French lace is used to complete all orders. This type of lace is fragile but durable enough for a beginner or daily wear client and undetectable. There are other types of laces and bases of course but French lace is the most commonly used. You will have an option to order Swiss Lace with your custom order. Swiss lace is undetectable, however is not suggested for a first time lace wig wearer because it is more fragile than French lace. Hair Length: The length of the lace unit is before any curl or wave has been done to the hair itself. The hairs are measured from where the hairs are placed on the cap of the wig to the very end of the hair. Referencing the photo below you will see that the wig shown has a natural layered appearance in the front of the wig. This is because the front of the wig is the highest point of the cap, so the hairs are placed higher than they were in the back, making them appear shorter in the front but its all really the same length. Tip: When placing your order, always add 2 inches when choosing a curly or wavy texture, so you will receive the expected results. Also, hair length is not the same for everyone. If you are not sure which length you should choose, it would be wise to take a trip to your local beauty supply store to check out some of their wigs. Once you try a wig on and you like the length, read the length on the tag or packaging for the wig. This will assist you when choosing your hair length. Hair Color: When choosing your hair color, it is very important to know the hair color number and not only the word. Brown to you may be color number 6, but to another it may be number 4. There are different levels when dealing with hair color. That's why the number system was developed. Tip: If you are having trouble with the color numbers and you don't know what you should choose, take a trip to your local beauty supply store to see all of the hair color choices there are. You will find the color you want by reading the label on the package of hair. It will tell you the color number and your favorite hair length if you are having trouble with that as well! Hair Texture: When choosing your hair texture, it is best to go with something you will be able to manage. If you are not used to managing curly or wavy hair and you are going for a less maintenance approach, it may not be wise for you to order a curly or wavy wig. You may want to order a silky straight or African American relaxed textured unit. If you would like a more versatile look, you may wish to go with a naturally wavy or body wave unit. This is one you can wear wavy or flat iron straight. Density: The hair density simply means how thick or thin you want your unit to be. The easiest way to decide this is by knowing that Medium density is the most commonly ordered and is the same as an average head of hair. If you have a smaller head size, you may like light to medium density. If you have a larger head size, you may like medium heavy to heavy density. Most people start off with Medium Density because it most likely suits everyone and you can always razor out any unwanted bulk. Lace Color: The color of the lace you choose depends on your skin tone. A good rule of thumb is that lighter or fair skinned women choose light brown lace, medium or as I say 'pecan tan' skinned women choose brown lace, darker skinned women choose dark brownn lace. As for caucasian or the very light skin tones there is transparent and light pink lace. Transparent lace is more so for the paler complected women but can also be worn by any skin tone because it is transparent. Measurements: This is the most important portion of your order form. Every other factor can be altered to be made correct but, if your measurements are wrong, your complete order is wrong. Now its okay for the measurements to be a little too large, but too small just won't work. Below is a diagram which shows you how to measure for your lace unit. 1. The Circumference of the Head:Measure all around the head. Position tape measure so its edge follows the hairline around the head and nape of the neck. (Average measurement is 22 inches). 2. From Forehead to Nape of Neck:Measure from hairline at center of forehead straight back over crown to center of hairline at nape of neck. (Average measurement is 13 1/2 inches). 3. Ear to Ear Across Front Hairline:At front of ear, measure from hairline at base of sideburn, up across the hair line along forehead to same point in front of other ear. (Average measurement is 11 1/2 inches). 4. From Ear to Ear Over Top of Head:Measure from hairline directly above the ear across top of head to the hairline directly above the other ear. (Average measurement is 11 inches). 5. Temple to Temple: From temple to temple across the back of head. (Average measurement is 14 inches). 6. Nape of Neck:Measure the width of hairline across the nape of the neck. (Average measurement is 5 inches).
