The collar and short sleeve cuffs benefit from scalloped lace edging. Below the collar the gown has three inset vertical panels of intricate lace.I don't know enough about lace to state with certainty that this is handmade lace,but it doesn't appear to be enough regularity in the stitching for it to be machine made. At the base of the vertical lace panels, there is a long ribbon ofthe same colour as the gown. The bottom quarter of the gown is inset with two complete bands of the same lace featured in the vertical panels at the chest. The hem is fringed with a 2" scalloped lace fringe that compliments the lace on the other areas of the gown. The back of the gown fastens by way of two pearlescent buttons. There are no labels sewn into the hems or seams.I would say this is a handmade, family garmet. I have had a close look over the garment and there are no visible holes, pulls or snags to either the gossimer silk or the lace. There are some small marks (about the size and colour of a pencil dot) to the front of the gown and a single larger (about 3mm) markto the lower right hand side of the rear.
