This fantastic Maharaja Royal robe was made in the 1930's-40's in Rajasthan in the tradition of the old Maharaja palace wear and worn as part of the display in the palaces in Rajasthan, by the local hostesses. It has a combination of cultural styles as common to colonial India. The sleeves are wide kimono style, with metallic turquoise zardori hems adorned with elephants which also have metallic gold fringe threads. The body of the Robe is made of pure silk sari in cinnabar warm tones also with golden metallic zardori threads and gold metallic fringe in the back as well as the front. The middle section has a 1920's flapper silk blend, fringed ecru threads, culminating on top with metallic gold large frog closure button adornment. The hem is turquoise silk sari. The entire robe (Including the kimono sleeves) is lined with strong burgundy rayon or synthetic voile material in burgundy which also is part of the kimono sleeves on the outside. The kimono is very strong, fresh and clean and seems to have never been worn, without any problem, except for one 1/4" hole on side front, which I show, and fades around it as well as a few pin pricks at that same area. Also, a 5" wide faded area at the bottom of the turquoise silk hem which is also shown in my last 3 pictures. Otherwise, it is truly perfect and I see these problems as minor. I show them as well and as closely as I can in the last 3 photos. The robe will fit anywhere between a size M-3X. It looks good on a medium sized woman as well as on a plus size woman!! the robe is VERY Flattering on any size! I tried it on two friends, one size 10, and one size 3X, and they fell in love with how flattering this looks on; symmetrically coordinated and lays on smoothly. The robe measures: 62" around bust. 28" across the shoulders. Almost 60" around waist. and 65" around hips. Length from shoulder to bottom hem is 56". Kimono sleeves' length from shoulder to hem is 30".
