Description
Current Lot George IV Silver Tureen Paul Storr 1828 A superbly designed and crafted tureen by England's legendary goldsmith of the later Georgian years, Paul Storr (1777-1844), whose work can be most commonly seen in major international museums. He is best known for outstanding craftsmanship and attention to detail, both evident on this imposing neo-classical tureen in the Roman taste, highlighted by foliate handles, egg-and-dart borders, and capped by an acanthus bud finial. One face is beautifully engraved with a Baronial armorial. Fully and clearly marked on wall of base and inside cover for London, 1828, with maker's mark of Paul Storr. A small dent-easily repaired-appears on the rear center wall, but generally this tureen presents in exceptional, original condition. Height 13". Weight 115.30 ozt.
